Postpart

POSTPART provides next generation DNS service. It is free for everyone. It includes geo IP aware, load-balanced, round robin, failover and site monitoring services. Use Case:

You have Coincan Inc. - an ecommerce web site - http://www.coincan.net (not real). Your customers are around the world. Currently your web server is in the USA. Your customers in the USA are fine, but your customers in Asia or Europe experience a slow connection for your web site.

Other requirements:

Available 24 hours/day, 7 days/week and 365 days/year.

Failover, if one server is down, other servers should take over.

Email notification, if there is any server down.

Solution for the Case:

1. Set an additional web server in Asia and an additional web server in Europe.

2. Duplicate web contents in three servers.

3. Delegate your domain name to POSTPART DNS servers - ns1.postpart.com and ns1.postpart.com.

4. Login to your POSTPART account.

5. Create GEO domain - coincan.net.

6. Create three IP addresses for coincan.net and www.coincan.net. The first IP is for Europe server. The second IP is for Asia server. The third IP is for North America server.

7. Add continents to echo IP.

When people use http://www.coincan.net/ to access your web, people in Asia be automatically directed to the Asian web server, people in North America to the North American server and people in Europe to European server. How about people in Africa? Since you did not set a web server in Africa, you can point Africa people to your European server. How about your North America server down? In one minute, then your North American customers will be directed to your European or Asian servers. At same time, you will receive an e-mail notification about your server going down.
